Europe's games market reached €29.7 billion as player count rose to 199 million

Video Games Europe says 199 million people aged 6–75 play games across 16 tracked markets, while digital purchases now represent 91% of revenue.

Video Games Europe's latest Key Facts report estimates that 199 million people aged 6 to 75 play video games across 16 European markets. That is about 51% of the population covered by the expanded GameTrack study. Adults represent 77% of players, the average player is 34 years old and women account for 46% of the audience. The market generated €29.7 billion in revenue, with digital purchases representing 91% and physical products 9%. Mobile is the most widely used device: 82% of players reported playing on a smartphone or tablet. The report also counts roughly 8,700 game studios and 123,000 industry jobs across the European Union and the United Kingdom, with women representing 24% of the workforce. On family controls, 93% of parents said they monitor their children's in-game spending. The comparison with earlier editions needs care because the audience study expanded from five countries to 16; part of the larger player count reflects broader measurement, not only organic growth.
