LEGO Digital Play acquires mobile studio Offroad Games

LEGO Digital Play has acquired Offroad Games, a UK mobile developer created by former Space Ape Games staff. Offroad was founded 19 months before the transaction and has focused on building a team and production culture for a new generation of mobile games.

Neither side disclosed the price or detailed how the studio will operate inside LEGO Digital Play. The acquisition nevertheless gives LEGO an experienced mobile team without building one from scratch, while Offroad gains the backing and intellectual-property reach of a global entertainment brand. It is a useful example of an early studio exit driven by team capability before a large public catalogue is established.
