Fuse Games’ distributed-development model separates three kinds of partnership

Fuse Games’ distributed-development model separates three kinds of partnership

Matt Webster describes asset outsourcing, external feature development and integrated co-development as different relationships. Star Wars: Galactic Racer provides the production example.

In this account, an outsourcer delivers against a defined brief, an external team owns a bounded feature, and a co-development partner participates in day-to-day production. The distinction is about integration and responsibility, not simply whether people work outside the main studio. A small internal headcount also does not represent everyone who contributed. Treat the framework as one studio’s model rather than a standard definition used identically across the industry.
