Steam gives each game five update visibility rounds—use them for moments that matter

Valve's own guidance shows that major updates can receive up to 30 days of homepage exposure, but seasonal sales still consume days while hiding the placement.

Steam's Update Visibility Rounds give developers a limited way to bring a released game back to the store homepage. Each product begins with five rounds shared between Early Access and full release. A round can run for up to 30 days or until it reaches one million homepage impressions. It targets people who already own the game or have it on their wishlist and must link to a community announcement published within the previous 30 days. The important constraint is timing. During major seasonal sales, the regular update placement may disappear from the homepage, but those days still count against the round's 30-day window. Teams should therefore reserve rounds for substantial new content, features or DLC and check the sale calendar before activation. Using every round during Early Access also leaves none automatically available for post-launch updates, although Steam may grant additional rounds to products performing well. This is not guaranteed reach: games enter an eligible pool and actual impressions depend on audience size and selection. Treat the rounds as a scarce distribution resource tied to a real product milestone, not as a routine announcement button.
